Healthy Safe meeting atendes The Healthy & Safe Community theme was the first of the five focus areas to meet, with community organizations in the health and wellness field gathering to learn about the objectives in this area.

At that meeting, Healthy Safe Communtiy was under the leadership of Co-Chairs Sid Collins, CEO of the Pickens County YMCA, and Steve Westmoreland, who has been involved in organized recreation and the Big League of Baseball.  Mr. Collins (pictured on the right) taught participants about the process envisioned in the Vision 2025 Plan where county organizations partner with each other in alliances to take on individual objectives and accomplish them over the coming years. Participants were told about the Vision Partner concept, and provided a form to fill out to indicate their interest in participating as a Vision Partner.

Healthy and Safe Community First Meeting

Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Ellers have met with key Vision Partners on Jan. 26, 2009 and Feb. 23, 2009.

Clemson Free Medical Clinic Gets New Home

Long housed in the Clemson Community Care Building and a large mobile lab that visits weekly, the Free Medical Clinic is moving into the old Clemson municipal court space accross Hwy 76.   The City of Clemson is constructing new wings onto City Hall, freeing up the municipal court building.   The space will be 2.5 times the size of the current space.  This is very good news for the many uninsured residents in the county that utilize the service.   HC-10, Work to guarantee affordable health care
is addressed by this expansion for the Clemson & Central area of the county.

Baptist Easley Hospital Baptist Easley Hospital, one of our two Pickens County hospitals has received several awards this year from national organizations.  It was named the number one in the large organizations category and number two overall by The Nonprofit Times 50 Best Nonprofits To Work For

Earlier this year it received the Studer Group's Fire Starter Award for the third consecutive time, the only hospital in the country to ever accomplish this.  In 2009, it received the Press Ganey's Partner of Choice Award for achieving patient, employee, and physician satisfaction scores all above the 90% again, the only hospital in Press Ganey's database of 10,000 hospitals to do so.
This achievement advances HC-2, Grow resources for health care as the population grows, and HC-11, Recruit more medical and health care providers.
Congratulations to the administration and all the staff of Baptist Easley Hospital.
